INTRODUCTION
*****************************************************************

When you join a Music Society, you get the opportunity to listen to music in a friendly atmosphere, to discuss your likes and dislikes and hear the views of others. An in-depth knowledge of music is certainly not necessary although it obviously isn't a handicap either.

*****************************************************************
Other advantages that you gain are those common to most societies - pleasures from new friendships, a happy social atmosphere, and widening horizons - and not all the talk is about music!
The best way of discovering what happens is to attend one of our programmes, take out an evening's temporary membership and to talk to the members. You are welcome to do this without being under any obligation.

Society News

The Society's musical activities for 2010 are now available.

Please click on 'Progammes' above.

We are half way through our exciting series of 2010 concerts given by professional musicians. Details of these concerts can be found by clicking on 'Live Music' above. We operate a mailing list for those specifically interested in live music and if you wish to add your name to this facility or require further details about these concerts, please contact us via the link on our Homepage. A special subscription scheme will give valuable savings on ticket purchases.

The next recital in this series, on Friday September 24th 2010, will feature the Duo Transatlantique, an International Guitar duo who hail from Baltimore, USA and Lille, France. Their programme will include a varied mix of musical styles from Bellinati, Cesar Franck, Scarlatti, L'Hoyer and Scott Joplin. More details can be found either by contacting 01562 755990/01527 870549 or by looking on the Live Music section of this website.

But before that to kick-off our new season……

Friday September 10th. THE INNOCENT EAR

Following the August break our President, Lyndon Jenkins, kicks off the autumn season with a programme based on the old radio show of the same name. Our view of a piece of music can be influenced by knowing the title or the composer. But what if you switch on the radio just after the announcement and you have to judge the music purely on its merits? That's what this programme is all about and it will be interesting to hear what Lyndon has found for us. We know that it will be a relaxed evening partly because Lyndon insists on starting with the refreshments and just topping them up at the interval. With his vast knowledge of music and having met so many famous musicians, he has a fund of stories to tell and will soon have us smiling.

This presentation will be held at Holy Innocents Community Hall,
Foley Park, Kidderminster and starts at 7.30pm
